QUARANTINE CAL
Join me for a project to keep us crafting and connected in this peculiar time!
The Quarantine CAL will have a part every week on Sundays or Mondays (depending how sunny the weekend is) and is a brilliant project to use up some of your DK stash! I will also be doing an instagram Live Q&A session on wednesdays to help with any questions about each stage!
This CAL is based on the Miami Memphis pattern I made with Knitcraft a couple of years ago and for this first step I have linked below some videos I made with them to take you through from the basics of how you hold your yarn and starting a granny square!
I’m going to be using this time to use the motifs to make a jumper that I have always wanted but never gotten around too but will be giving the instructions how you can make the blanket or cushion options!
The jumper fit from this design in DK yarn will be a 1 size make and will measure 74cm flat across the chest. This can easily be zized up by extending the joined block with extra rounds at the end.
I’m going to be using the Large Granny Squares to make the sleeves and have gone with some left over Pink and Red as my chosen colours this week!
Follow along with me and share your makes using the Hashtags #QUARANTINECAL and #MIYKATIEJONES.
YOU WILL NEED:
DK YARN STASH
4mm Hook for Cushion or Blanket options
4.5mm Hook for Jumper option
Scissors
NOTE: If you are going to be buying new yarn for this project and are making the blanket you will need 2 balls of Black yarn and, 9 Balls of yarn in mixed colours.
TENSION
If making the blanket or cushion and using DK and a 4mm hook you want a 4 Round Granny Square to equal 10cm X 10 cm .
Top Tip: If you are making for a garment size up a hook size to get a looser drape, using a 4.5mm hook you want a 4 Round Granny Square to equal 12cm X 12cm.
YARN: DK
1 16 Round Granny Square should need 60gs of 2 colours
KEY: UK Pattern
CH = Chain
Sp = Space
St = Stitch
